Labeling is the procedure of classifying, indicating or segregating products into different groups according to their qualities, specifications or characteristics. Labeling is the process by which product information is provided for both customers and manufacturers. There are several types of labelling such as point of sale (POS) labelling, multiple process labelling (MFP) and point of use (POE) labelling. Definition. A labeling system is a standardized computerized method for assigning letters or codes to different products, packaging, manufacturing or other commodities. Read more on CTM Labeling Systems. Labeling System Organization Labels. Labeling systems can be primary labels, secondary labels or combination of primary and secondary labels. Primary labels are those that are read or written directly on the commodity, container or product. Secondary labels are labels that are used for identification purposes only. A combination of primary and secondary labels identifies the different classifications of commodities or commodity-related products. Labeling System Colors. There are four colors available for POS and MFP labelling systems. They are: invisible, text, graphic, and Braille. Invisible labels do not have any sort of reflective properties and they can be read or written in almost any condition. Text labels on the other hand can be seen through and read easily but text labels cannot be resized or modified. Labeling System Components. There are several components that make up a labeling machine. Chief among them is the print head or printer. The print head needs to have a high quality ink in it should be capable of detailed, crisp and good looking images. The print head also has to have a high speed print engine that is very durable. Labeling System Accessories. A lot of labeling machines are equipped with accessories such as transfer rollers, transfer paper, roll label applicator, and other miscellaneous accessories. The accessories often come with the manufacturer's label size applicator. The applicator is what is used to apply the appropriate label to the product. Some manufacturers bundle several different applicators so that users do not need to buy each one separately. Backup and Support Staff. It is important for a manufacturing company to have a team of labeling experts who can handle labeling tasks even when the main label applicator is down. A team of knowledgeable and trained label applicators should be ready to handle any errors that may occur in printing or transferring of data or images to the print head. The support staff for these teams should also be highly skilled so that they can provide technical support to the manufacturing department in case there are problems or glitches with the labeling equipment. There are many companies out there that provide label applicator and printing services to manufacturing divisions all over the world. Go to https://www.ctmlabelingsystems.com for more.
